The names “ZDR Karate”, “ZDR Freestyle Karate”, “Zen Do Ryu Freestyle Karate Academy”, “Zen Do Ryu Freestyle Karate Academies”, "National Karate Academies" "National Karate Academies Zen Do Ryu System", "NKA" and "National Karate Academies Miranda Kai System" and their associated symbols and brands are recognised business names and symbols, holding historical value with the National Karate Academies organisation, and as such are covered under Common Law. The web domains “www.zendoryu.com.au”, “www.nationalkarate.com.au” and “www.nationalkarateacademies.com.au” are registered domain names with the National Karate Academies organisation and remain the property thereof.

The logo consisting of the white eagle, gold katana and red Japanese words "Karate" on the left hand side and "Ju-jitsu" on the right hand side, with the name "National Karate Academies" above and the name "Miranda Kai System" below is a Registered Trade Mark with IP Australia and should not be used without the written permission of the owner, Professor Steve Miranda. The slogan "Better Martial Arts Through Research" is a Registered Trade Mark with IP Australia and should not be used without the written permission of the owner, Professor Steve Miranda. The slogan "Seriously Great Martial Arts" is a "Common Law" Trademark and as such is covered under the Commonwealth Trade Practices Act 1974. The name "National Karate Academies" when used alone without the associated symbol is a "Common Law" Trade Mark and is covered under the Commonwealth Trade Practices Act 1974.

Anyone using the above-mentioned names or logos without written permission may be in breach of Australian Commonwealth legislation and is advised to contact National Karate Academies for clarification.
